Reborn,
we are the Japan Alcohol Corporation.
First, allow me to begin by expressing our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for the valued patronage of our customers over the years.
It pleases me greatly to report that starting April 1 2006, the Alcohol Enterprise Head Office of the New Energy and Industrial Development Organization (NEDO) officially became a wholly state-owned Special Corporation as designated by the Japanese government.
Deliberations in the Diet regarding incorporation and future privatization of the Alcohol Enterprise Head Office concluded in mid-April of last year, resulting in the establishment of our new identity as the Japan Alcohol Corporation on April 20 2005. As a result, the 69-year old Alcohol Monopoly Law was abolished and in turn, the alcohol field in Japan bore witness to the beginning of its deregulation.
In our transformation as a new corporation, we plan to embark on a number of new reform initiatives to meet the demands of our customers. For example, keeping in mind that the primary use of fermentative alcohol is in found products and health care applications, we will introduce more high-precision testing equipment to enhance quality control during the manufacturing process under the company motto of "safety and security". We are also well aware of the need to continue to refine our world-class alcohol manufacturing technology that we have accumulated over the years. Additionally, in much the same way we do domestically we will seek the cooperation of our global supply partners regarding improvements in quality control and testing systems.
I would like to be the first to say that each and every employee will become one in continuing to focus their efforts on our mission of providing our customers with a stable supply of the world's finest as well as safest alcohol products.
In closing, on occasion of our incorporation, I would like to ask for your continued cooperation and I very much look forward to your support in the future.
Naoki Nishio
Chief Executive Officer
